Growing up in a small community in Minnesota, United States, she graduated from the University of Duluth with a BA in Sociology/Criminology with a focus on Juveniles in 2006.
Courtney has worked in youth programming and social work her entire professional career, and considers it her passion in life.
She has previously worked as a Youth Treatment Specialist in the Woodland Hills Youth Rehabilitation Center, as well as a Counselor and Visit Supervisor in Social Services. Working for an NGO in Minnesota entitled AIDS Information, she helped implement a sex education curriculum to at-risk youth in the community, as well as conducted various youth outreach. She served with the Red Cross as a Shelter Manager during the Hurricane Katrina Disaster, and also worked for Carnival Cruiselines developing youth programming for the teen population.
An avid sports fan and athlete, she loves to stay active and can frequently be found wherever there is a sporting event taking place.
She has also traveled and resided in the Latin American/Caribbean countries of Mexico and Trinidad-Tobago, and had a beautiful baby girl named Danika Rain in July of 2007.
After traveling to Honduras for the first time in 2003, she fell in love with the country instantly, and knew it was her destiny to return and help develop youth programming where the need was so great.
Her and her daughter currently live in the community of Flowers Bay, Roatan; where Courtney not only runs the programming of WYM, but is also a teacher and coach of numerous sports teams.
